Although the aluminum back of the iPad is quite attractive, but there are still reasons to apply a skin:

The aluminum back of the iPad is a bit slippery. We can imagine dropping it at some point – it is a good idea to apply a surface with a bit more traction without bulking up the thin profile of the iPad.
Installing the skin on the back of the iPad is pretty straightforward as there are no buttons or other features to work around.
The black bezel on the front of iPad is so cool that I opted not to supply skin for this part at this moment.
